Unified Capture

Create clips from your stream

Unified Capture creates clips from any Unified Origin stream. Capture does the frame-accurate cutting, too. It works with both live and VOD streams, generating clips in HLS, MPEG-DASH, HDS, HSS and CMAF.

Key features

Live to VOD (Catch-up TV): capture from a live stream, providing a stop time in the future - but also clip VOD streams easily by providing a start/stop time.

Unified Capture can do frame-accurate cuts in the stream. It decodes and encodes beginning and ending fragments to allow for sample-accurate timing.

Other typical use cases are:

  • providing nPVR on premise or in the cloud

  • stream validation

Main benefits

Maximize your content. Save your stream and reuse existing content. Create a VOD library, run new channels, and provide viewers appealing content with personalization tools.

Save a single copy—and reuse it. Keep only a single copy of your content on disk. Deliver it to any device. Repurpose existing content instead of creating new content.

Engage your viewers with more services. Re-start and catch-up TV, personal recordings. Watching streams has never been so flexible!

How it works

Unified Capture is a command-line tool that captures and downloads the adaptive bitrate presentation (ABR) to disk from a URL with timestamps.
